Ravne na Koroškem, 7.7.2018 – Initiative »Heroes drive in pajamas« concluded its activities in Carinthia region.
Organizers of larger events are becoming more aware of road safety significance of their visitors, that is why we were really glad to respond to the invitation of Carinthian Students Club (KKŠ) to Summer Break 2018 festival.
»Young people can be heroes and have fun without drinking alcohol and using other illicit psychoactive substances« is the message that heroes of Institute VOZIM and organizers of the festival wanted to pass on to the youth. At the venue of the festival, which was attended by 2500 young people, our activists raised awareness about the harmful use of alcohol and other illicit psychoactive substances in general and in traffic. For that matter we prepared free bottles of water and practical gadgets (frisbees, soap bubbles, balloons, …), visitors could also try out the breathalyzer to estimate their blood alcohol values with their breath sample. The majority agreed that even a small amount of consumed alcohol can influence perception of the individual and that is better to stay completely sober when driving home.
In order for young people to safely arrive at and from the festival, our heroes and organizers of the festival took care of free transport. “Heroes drive in pajamas” partner – Toyota and Carinthian Students Club (KKŠ) together provided two vans with which 101 young people were driven home safely and for free to nearby municipalities: Ravne na Koroškem, Prevalje, Mežica, Črna, Dravograd, Muta, Radlje, Slovenj Gradec and Mislinja. Visitors were very grateful for the organized transport and want it to become a constant in their social environment.
Having fun without drinking alcohol and using other illicit psychoactive substances is becoming a value on summer festivals. Raised awareness in young people about the significance of road safety is priceless. Not only young people themselves are becoming more aware, but also the organizers of such events, who organize free and safe transport home for their local youth.
